Upon graduating from Charleston Southern University Drew found himself trained yet unemployed like so many others. For two years he worked temp jobs mostly outside of his course of study just to make ends meet. The last job was selling Kirby vacuum cleaners.
Yearning for a pemanent job in his field of study he was offered one in 1993.Before leaving his Kirby job his boss informed him that he would earn more money and have more freedom if he continued working for himself. Drew could'nt see it at age 24.He had been conditioned like so many others to think that a permanent job at a company guaranteed a secure paycheck and benefits.
Throughout his three years at Labcorp. the words of his ex boss would ring true. The five days a week day in day out, fifteen minute breaks, half hour lunches, one to two week vacations, minimal raises each year and lack of being able to diplay his creativity caused Drew to lok for a better way.
After much brainstorming and trying different things in his spare time a friend mentioned real estate. Drew researched as much as he could on the subjects of real estate, investing and business.Within six months he purchased his first investment property, within seven months he was fired from his job at Labcorp. That was February 1997.
With all of the reading, research and networking there was no way he was going to look for another job! He continued to purchase properties until he was earning a little less in positive cashflow than he was earning at Labcorp.By 2003 he had turned a no money down real estate deal into three hundred and seventy thousand($370,000) in net worth. Then he started studying the stock market. In less than a year he had earned over one hundred thousand dollars($100,000) in the market. By 2005 he had lost over eighty percent ($80,000) of it along with some of his properties to foreclosure because of mismanagement and risky, uneducated investment strategies.
By 2007 Drew earned a portion of it back. Even though it was harder, he used his God given creative mind to change things around. He did it ! Formed Vision Communications,LLC to educate and inspire others to look deep within themselves and let that entrepreneur within to come out in order to do forself instead of relying on a unfulfilling job.
